Dosey Dough

There little sally, sittin on a chair
Teasin all the boys with her long black hair
One more drink, then get her on the floor
Shakin those hips cuz the boys want more

Swing your partner round and round
Come on boys, it’s time to get down
Shake your partner, Dosey Dough
Come on girls,it's time to get go

There’s ole Mike, sittin on a stool
Wakin up early gotta go to school
One more drink, pled to his date
Call up his teacher, cuz he’s comin in late

Albert Smith standin on the wall
He was so drunk and about to fall
one more drink, then we’ll get him down
stompin his feet to this old time sound

Pickin that banjer is a fella named Bob
Wonder what he's smokin in that old corn cob?
Looks like he just rolled out of bed
Eye's half open and bloodshot red!

Old man Wilbur sittin on a stool
Pickin' and a’grinnin' like a banjo fool
If he had a brain with somethin to say
His mind’s long gone and full of hay

Long Working Blues

I’m shuckin Coal, stealing frieght, told my boss I won’t be late again…
Cuz I need one more pay sir, So my wife will let me in

So I’m hitchin rides, stealing gas, using leaves to wipe my ass again…
Cuz I’m out of money boys, that’s how my life’s always been

That cold drivin hammer lord gonna make a man out of me
That cold steel hammer lord, (BREAK) gonna make a mess out of me

So….It’s back to work, go to church, tell the preacher about all my sins
There adding up my pockets ma, sure I hope they let me in

Stayed in school, paid my dues, now I write these long workin blues
I’m tired of runnin pa, ain’t go no tread left on my shoes

That cold drivin hammer lord gonna make a man out of me
That cold steel hammer lord, (BREAK) gonna make a mess out of me

Go back home, sit alone, wonder where my wife she could be….
Hope she ain’t a hookin boys, bring some supper back for me

Bustin boards, drivin nails waiting for that work bell to ring
Cuz I’m hopping on that last train, mama I’ll see what I can bring

That cold drivin hammer lord gonna make a man out of me
That cold steel hammer lord, (BREAK) gonna make a mess out of me

Get the Truck!

When you’re down in the valley and you need to get up the hill
With two kegs of beer and a flat iron grill
You can call on your friends or hitch up a mule
But I’ll tell you what we ought to do…

I’ll get the truck, I’ll get the truck
Ain’t no sense in overworking, no chance of getting stuck
I’ll get the truck,  I can get the truck
It’s a four by four we’ll haul ‘em out of here

When your sitting at home and a storm comes rolling in
And the big Oak tree your Mama planted sways in the wind
When a big ol’ crack of lightning sends her down on the roof
There’s only one thing left to do…

I’ll get the truck, I can get the truck
We’ll chain her up, we’ll haul her out, I’m sorry about your luck
I’ll get the truck, I’ll get the truck
It’s a four by four we’ll haul ‘er out of here

When you’re out with your uncle shooting varmint and hare
To your surprise, you can’t believe your eyes, here comes a grizzly bear
You pop off a shot, get lucky, yes it’s true
You’re uncle says, “here’s what we’re gonna do”….

I’ll get the truck, I can get the truck
But I hope ya got a deep freeze ‘cause this ain’t no little buck
I’ll get the truck,  I’ll get the truck
It’s a four by four we’ll get her out of here

When the band is a playing in some high lonesome town
Its middle of December and the snow is coming down
The van starts a shaking, pitching to and fro
We wind up in a ditch, might have to call the show

I’ll get the truck,  I can get the truck
This aint no big catastrophe, I’ll get ya right unstuck
I’ll get the truck,  I’ll get the truck
It’s a four by four we’ll get ya out of here.
It’s a four by four and now we’re standing here

Joe the Fisher-Munn

Joe the fisher-Munn, Joe
Tie that fly, cast that pole
Find him fishin at the fishin’ hole
Joe the fisher-Munn Joe

Go catfishin’ on a Friday night
Catchin catfish ‘til the morning light
Go to the store and buy some chicken liver
Wrap the line around it and throw it in the river

Chorus

Walked on down to the ole farm pond
Got in the tackle box and through a frog on
Jigged it through the water a little slow then fast
That ole frog caught me a six pound bass

Chorus

Me and Joe went fishin ‘long the old Antietam
But I’m not good at robbin fish from their freedom
Joe came back with a full loaded stringer
I caught nothing so I had to cook our dinner

Chorus

Waiting For You

Look at me now babe,
Look at me now,
I’m only waiting for you

Follow me down babe,
Follow me down
I’m only waiting for you

And I’m kind of lost and I’m kind of found
Kind of up and I’m kind of down
I’m only shaken, I’m never stirred
More like a phrase than a single word
I’m only waiting for you

Look over your shoulder babe
Look over your shoulder
I’m only waiting for you

Come over yonder babe
Come over yonder
I’m only waiting for you

I’m kind of left and I’m kind of right
I’m long for day and I live for the night
I’m only rusty, I’m not broke down
More like a season that’s coming round
I’m only waiting for you.

And you might say I’ll never stand a chance
And I might say you could make me an honest man
And who’s to say that we’re never going to change
Look at me now I’m a face with out a name

Look at me now babe,
Look at me now,
I’m only waiting for you

Hoedown

So now the crowd’s a’rollin in
It’s hard to tell where they’ve been
But all I know is what we know
The band’s plugged in, enjoy the show
Cuz all our friends are back in town,
They all came ‘round so we’d get down
And we’d have, this little thing, we call a hoedown
Woo-hoo-hoo…

And here we are,
Singin songs that we all love
The night is young,
We’re fallin fast but we still in love
Cuz all our friends are back in town,
They all came ‘round so we’d get down
And we’d have, this little thing, we call a hoedown
Woo-hoo-hoo…

We can try it one more time
Fill up our mugs with booze and wine
We can take our time
We can fall on back, cuz we’re doin fine
Cuz all our friends are back in town,
They all came ‘round so we’d get down
And we’d have, this little thing, we call a hoedown
Woo-hoo-hoo…

SHOVEL’IN COAL

Hear that freight train coming rollin down the tracks, Its going so fast it aint coming back, shiny locomotive going out of control, Lord I was born to shovel that coal.

My name is William Tucker Johnson I was born in the swamp I spent the first half of life splittin hickory stumps with a big ole axe made of iron and steel and these big old arms that where made to kill.

My ma and pa died when I was 16, so I left the swamp and hopped on a train the rail road bat caught me and asked for some gold I said I aint got none but I can shovel some coal.

Hear that freight train coming rollin down the tracks, Its going so fast it aint coming back, shiny locomotive going out of control, Lord I was born to shovel that coal.

Well the engineers name  was Casey Jones and the day that train wrecked he wasn’t alone, I was right behind  with the shovel in hand and we had that train a rockin across the land

That ole train was where I made my life shovelin coal for the rail road ride , and that ol’e train was where I  met the end If I could start over I would do it again.

Hear that freight train coming rollin down the tracks, Its going so fast it aint coming back, shiny locomotive going out of control, Lord I was born to shovel that coal.

Love Song

Well I site here, On my front porch, And I got this guitar in my hand
While your out there with another, Well I just don’t seem to understand

I won’t write you another love song, I won’t ride with you tonight
I won’t write you another love song, Cuz it only wastes my time

And it’s been several days now, since you walked out and slammed my door
I think your better off a leaving, Cuz I don’t want see you no more

I won’t write you another love song, I won’t ride with you tonight
I won’t write you another love song, Cuz it only wastes my time

As I sit here, up on this bar stool, And I drink my mind to the end
So I’m going back, to where I started, Alone with no one to depend

I won’t write you another love song, I won’t ride with you tonight
I won’t write you another love song, Cuz it only wastes my time

Now I’m back here, up on this front porch, And I got my guitar in my hand
I can’t think of nothing better, then pickin in this old time bluegrass band

Down Home

Down by the sycamore is where we used to play
Skippin rocks and makin forts is how we spent our days
Bailin hay, shuckin corn, grassy meadow dew
Milkin cows, beddin calves, skinny dippin too

I was born a farmer’s daughter, raised off the land
Ate taters from our garden, picked cherries with my hands
Supposin that I never told you, I’m bound to tell you now
I’ll always be a country girl a singin to the crowd

And when I’m down home, mud between my toes
We’re all feelin good, steppin soybean rows
Supper’s on the stew and sweet tea icy cold
Down home is where I long to be, getting old

Poppa woke me early each and every day
Callin the girls in from the fields on their weary way
Cow paths, orchard lanes, bare foot in the hay
Wagon tongues, tractor wheels, workin hard all day

Momma’s quilts dryin on the line, canners on the stove
Summer kitchen’s scorchin hot, sweatin in our clothes
Supposin that I never told you, I’m bound to tell you now
I’ll always be a country girl a singin to the crowd

And when I’m down home, mud between my toes
We’re all feelin good, steppin soybean rows
Supper’s on the stew and sweet tea icy cold
Down home is where I long to be, getting old

Captain Crowley
The sun was rising in the East, Captain Crowley prowled
His faithful Lady Lila, was waiting on the bow
Two ships came a sailing, many more came two by two
Captain Crowley said due West, we’ll make them follow through

In the mighty channel, cannons echoed wall to wall
Cliffs on both sides suffered damage from the fall
When Captain Crowley came to fight with his men still at large
Who stole a loot of rum from a passing barge.

The drunkards took the galley and his crew was gone for night
They left a scribbled note to be read by fire light.
Explaining their position on a dark and dreary night
They left the captain all alone to wage his mighty fight.

Lila she came through shuffling swords and guns and spears
Faced the mighty cannon ball against her captain’s fears
She laid them down and stole the crown of a Feral Princess Star
Till one by one, they all were gone and laid out in the yard.

As night fell upon them, Lila did her best to fare
Captain Crowley joined his men a drinking in the lair
He told his tale, a truth behold, of glorious victory
And not a word of Lila and her noble bravery

By morning Captain Crowley awoke upon the shore
Nothing to be found and his crew was nevermore
One ship a sailing in to the misty morning passed
Lila at the helm and a new flag at the mast

The morel of this story folks, the truth behind the plan
Is to always trust a woman with a weapon in her hand
or She’ll steal your gold and leave your liquor and that’s where you mess up
She’ll do the job of ten men or more who are drinking from the cup.

Jager Bomb

The more I drink, the less I think, the most I think of you
So why’d you go and leave me here, feeling all so blue
You called me out a drunkard, and that’s what I recall
Sleeping in your yard last night, well who are you to call

Yeah, pour me a shot, A nice cold Jager bomb
So I can get all drunk, and sing this lonesome song
The whiskey left me thirsty, and the bar tab isn’t paid
If were all seeing double, I wonder who gets laid

I went up to the jukebox to play our favorite song
So I can weep, and you can moan, you know you done me wrong
But we went out on the dance floor, so we could dance around
So now I’m seeing circles I might as well lie down

Yeah, pour me a shot, A nice cold Jager bomb
So I can get all drunk, and sing this lonesome song
The whiskey left me thirsty, and the bar tab isn’t paid
If were all seeing double, I wonder who gets laid

You left me at the Tavern, to hang out with your friends
Bought you all your drinks tonight, when’s this gonna end?
So now it’s time, to pack it up, and bring it on back home
Late at night, when I’m in bed, don’t text me on my phone

Yeah, pour me a shot, A nice cold Jager bomb
So I can get all drunk, and sing this lonesome song
The whiskey left me thirsty, and the bar tab isn’t paid
If were all seeing double, I wonder who gets laid

I said, we’re all seein double, I’m the one who’s gettin laid

Hammer Swing

Try, Try, Try,   They say it’s either do or die
Turn, Turn, Turn, they say you’re worth more than you earn
Mine, Mine, Mine, I can see what’s on your mind

Feel, Feel, Feel,  you gotta have a heart to steal
Mend, Mend, Mend, you gotta see what’s around the bend
Mine, Mine, Mine, I can see what’s on your mind

Early in the morning, out on the town
Feel like I’m dragging this hammer on down
Might as well be a puppet on a string
Cut my lines,  cut my loss, and let this hammer swing
Swing, Swing Low, Swing, Swing Wide
Shut my eyes and count the times that I just let it slide
My, My, My, they say it’s do or die
Swing, Swing Low, and Swing, Swing Wide

Run Run Run,  Pappa was a loaded gun
Burn Burn Burn,  Mama made you wait your turn
Mine Mine Mine, I can see what’s on your mind

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT

And I made my home (made my home)
In the Blue Ridge Summit (Blue Ridge Summit)

That’s my home (that’s my home)
And I long to stay (long to stay)

And I made my home (made my home)
In Blue Ridge Summit (Blue Ridge Summit)

That’s my home (That’s my home)
and that’s where I’ll stay….

Went drivin down, old route 16, that’s where I met, a girl so mean
We took a chance, on Old Forge Road, no forest left, to ease my load

And I stumbled in, to Rouzerville, that’s where I go, to get my fill
Five days a week, I’ve traveled down, to go back up, that lonesome hill

At old Red Run, take off my shoes, that’s where I go, to sing my blues
All farmers gone, no fields to plow, they’re movin on, sun’s gone down

They paved the land, their pockets grow, for a cause, I’ll never know
Just thinking back, on yesterday, seen a traffic light, now I lost my way

When we were young, on a Saturday, Old Pen Mar Park, that’s where we’d play
I can hear the voice of my Daddy still, It’s time to go, gotta cross that hill

I’ll Come Back

There’ve been times I never thought I’d see your shining face
When the war took you under it’s black shadow cape
Left alone to tend the fields and hoe the earth we raised
The years rolled on they burnt the barn and left without a trace

I’ll come back when the wind’s in the willows
Hold your hand if you come home to stay
Kiss your cheek just like a sea foam angel
I’ll come back when that white dove she sings

The soldiers came and took our stock oh William he did rage
They shot him with a musket now in the grave he lays
I sent Sal with a sack of bread to the railroad train
I hope and pray she makes it to a Pennsylvania cave

chorus

The smoke it lingers like a draft beneath the kitchen floor
My soul longs to see you walkin through that cabin door
My hands once soft and tender now scarred from the plow
You can always tell a lady by the hem of her gown

chorus

I’ve tried to be patient, I’ve tried to be strong
The wait has taken years from me it’s been so very long
Is there any way to stop this war we can’t understand
In my dreams the battle’s gone, now the green becomes the land

chorus

Patience is a part of me, but for the smoke I can not see
Why this has to be the way and rebels have to die
Noble, sure if you say so, yellow’s a dirty word I know
Hold my hand, kiss my cheek, the white sails are nigh

Slow Motion

There was a time
When I was lost and misguided by you
There was a line
That had to be crossed, to know the truth

True that, True that, True that

And there was a sign
That lead me past what I believed
And there was a time
When I only knew what I conceived

True that, True that, True that

Your Motion is slow
Settle down low
Lay down by the fireside
And you never let go

Then you came along
Turned my world upside down
And you know there's nothing wrong
Sleeping days and staying up all night long

True that, True that, True that

Your Motion is slow
Settle down low
Lay down by the fireside
And you never let go

Ramblin Mama

I went down town so I could find my baby girl

Where could she be roamin all over this world

Oh Mama, Oh Mama, she just won’t come around

She‘s my ramblin Mama, she just won’t settle down

I went down to the station to buy myself a ride
I hope I find my baby before I lose my mind
Oh Mama, Oh Mama, she just won’t come around
She‘s my ramblin Mama, she just won’t settle down

See me and my boys, we sit around and pick
Just don’t piss her off, cuz she’ll beat you with her stick
Oh Mama, Oh Mama, she just won’t come around
She‘s my ramblin Mama, she just won’t settle down

I went up on the mountain, so I could take a look around
There I saw my baby, she was dancin in the crowd
Oh Mama, Oh Mama, she just won’t come around
She‘s my ramblin Mama, she just won’t settle down

So now I found my darlin down by the maple tree
Singin in the moonlight with a washboard on her knee
Oh Mama, Oh Mama, she finally came around
She‘s my ramblin Mama, she likes to get on down
She‘s my ramblin Mama, she likes to get on down
She‘s my ramblin…ramblin…ramblin…
…she likes to get on down

Serenade in D

I went down, to meet my baby at the edge of town,
she’s as pretty as can be, and I’m pretty happy that she shares it with me,
were going on out, to dance an old jig and to twist and shout,
she catches everyones eye, they say I better keep her til the day I die.
I tell them that’s my plan, and that all I can do is the best I can,
she is so sweet to me, lord if she left me I would beg and plead.
I love her lips, every time I touch em they make me flip,
in her classic rock T shirts she can rock a hippy skirt.

She was workin at a store, I said I like your smile she said I like your wave,
We went to a coffee shop, I had tea she had caffeinated pop
then we strolled through the park the sun was leavin and it was getting dark.
She was quiet and  I talked all night I asked for a kiss and she said alright.
We went to pen mar I serenaded her with my old guitar.
I wasn’t sure how she felt, but when I looked in her eyes it made me melt.

Ghost

Well there’s a ghost in this house,  Yes I do declare
I finally found you ,   moving down the stairs
And I’m watching out for you, Flying through the air
Yes there’s a ghost in this house, and I’m bound to lose my mind

Well the dogs are barking, There’s nothing there
And the cats are clawing at open air
And my neighbors are talking about what went on
At this old house before we signed on

Yes there’s a ghost in this house

And my watch keeps moving from six to four
And I swear I locked the basement door
And the windows were open but now they’re down
And the flowers I bought you turned from red to brown

And there’s a ghost in this house, and by God I’m scared
Acting like a recluse,  Cutting locks of hair
Keeping all of my lights on, and I sold my rocking chair
Yes there’s a ghost in this house, and I’m bound to lose my mind

Well the preacher man came by, said nothing’s there
He found my rabbits feet and my locks of hair
I’ve got a mojo hand and a monkeys paw
And my hexagram painted on the wall

Give me a four leave clover
Vade  Retro Satana
There’s a ghost in this house

Flowers In the Grass

Flowers in the grass , smell so good,
remind me of you and the way you are,
sun brings the warmth and im dreamiing of you,
my mind wonders, sometimes to far.

well this morning I set sail, destination nowhere particular,
but the greate winds always prevail and they blew me strait to you.

Flowers in the grass , smell so good,
remind me of you and the way you are,
sun brings the warmth and im dreamiing of you,
my mind wonders, sometimes to far.

well this evenning I set sail, destination the bottom of lonely ,
and I guess she doen't love me, but I know I will always love her.

Flowers in the grass , smell so good,
remind me of you and the way you are,
sun brings the warmth and im dreamiing of you,
my mind wonders, sometimes to far.

Say it Aint So

You up and took your love away
I can’t decide if I should stay
There’s plenty left unsaid, undone
I only wish I would have run

I always knew your love was true
Until the day you left me blue
Out the door with Dapper Dan
Still wishin you were in my hands

Say it aint so…in the mornin when you’re leavin
Say it aint so…when I take my love away
Say it aint so…if you only care to listen
Cuz I know there will be hell to pay.

Heart ache’s a foreign word to me
I only wish I would have seen
How devilishly mean you were
But now the pain begins to stir

There’s one way for my life to turn
I’ll grab a match and make you burn
Spare the rod and spoil you
This time I know just what to do

chorus

Well here I am with flames in hand
Your face is pain, I understand
My fingers grip the blackened steel
I can’t decide just how I feel

I want you gone that’s no surprise
But I can see love in your eyes
There’s plenty left unsaid, undone
I only wish I would have run
chorus

Land of the Lakes

When I first started walking, I was just a little boy
I was reckless and untamed, tripping over all my toys
I cried, Mama oh Mama you cant restrict my feet
I need them for walking up and down a dead end street

And now that I'm older and wiser by far
I'll keep my fingers crossed and count my lucky stars
And if I should die before I wake,
Take my body back home to the land of the lakes

When I first started talking I was nearly two years old
I was cussin' like a sailor and my mouth was uncontrolled
Oh kitty cat oh kitty cat you can not take my tongue
I need it for telling lies and singing country songs

And now that I'm older and wiser by far
I'll keep my fingers crossed and count my lucky stars
And if I should die before I wake,
Take my body back home to the land of the lakes

When I first started drinking it was shine and beer and wine
Next thing you know, I was drinking all the time
Oh Doctor Oh Doctor don't take away my liver
I need it for drinking this rot gut liquor

And now that I'm older and wiser by far
I'll keep my fingers crossed and count my lucky stars
And if I should die before I wake,
Take my body back home to the land of the lakes

When I first started smoking we'd steal a pack of reds
Go on down the alley and smoke behind the shed
Oh body, Oh body please don't reject my lungs
I know that I've abused them and without them I'll be done

And now that I'm older and wiser by far
I'll keep my fingers crossed and count my lucky stars
So if I should die before I wake,
Take my body back home to the land of the lakes

(I say) Hard Times (Hard Times), you know we had us some
Let’s get this party rollin ya’ll, let’s show em how it’s done (I say)
Hard times (Hard times) you know we had us some
Let’s get this party rollin ya’ll, let’s show em how it’s done…
